Overview — What is Ledger® Live?

Ledger® Live is the official interface for Ledger® hardware wallets. It consolidates account views, transaction signing, app installation on the device, portfolio tracking and optional services (staking, swaps). Crucially, private keys remain on the hardware device; Ledger® Live acts as a management and signing layer that communicates with the device.

Download & Platform Choices

You can get Ledger® Live as a Desktop application (Windows, macOS, Linux) or as a Mobile App (iOS, Android). Desktop offers granular device management and app installation; mobile provides convenient on-the-go checks and transfers. Always download from official Ledger® channels and verify any checksums or signatures if provided.

Ledger® Live wallet basics

Ledger® Live displays accounts derived from your device’s seed. Each send or receive action must be confirmed on the hardware screen — this protects you from remote compromises. Use Ledger® Live to add accounts, view token balances, and manage multiple currencies in a single, unified interface.

Troubleshooting Ledger® login issues

If Ledger® Live login is failing, follow these steps: first, ensure the device is powered and unlocked with the correct PIN. Swap USB cables and ports, try another computer, and ensure Ledger® Live and device firmware are up to date. On mobile, toggle Bluetooth and re-pair from the app rather than the OS pairing menu. If the app prompts for a password you forgot, clearing local app data will remove that password but not your funds — recovery still requires the seed phrase.

Error connecting & app not working

Connection errors commonly stem from outdated drivers, blocked USB permissions, or conflicting wallet software. Close other wallet apps, disable VPNs or proxy tools temporarily, and reinstall Ledger® Live if needed. Use the app’s diagnostic logging (Settings → Help → Export logs) when escalating to Ledger® Help Center.

Unable to Ledger® Trezor — compatibility note

Ledger® and Trezor are separate hardware ecosystems. You cannot connect a Ledger® device to Trezor Suite. To move funds between the two, send coins from one wallet’s verified receiving address to the other; always confirm addresses on each device’s screen before transacting.

Account recovery & 2FA reset

Ledger® Live does not hold your recovery phrase. If a device is lost or broken, restore using your 24-word seed on a compatible hardware wallet. Ledger® Live app passwords or locally stored 2FA settings can be reset only by clearing local data — they do not restore access to funds. If you suspect compromise, restore to a fresh wallet and transfer assets immediately.

When to contact Ledger® Help Center

If basic troubleshooting fails, export logs and reach out to the official Ledger® Help Center. Never share your recovery phrase or PIN with anyone claiming to be support. Ledger® support will request logs and system details — not your seed phrase.

FAQs

How do I safely download Ledger® Live?
Only from the official Ledger® website. Verify file integrity if checksums are available and avoid third-party mirrors.
Why won't Ledger® Live detect my device?
Try a different cable/port, unlock the device, update firmware, disable VPNs, and check OS USB permissions.
Can Ledger® Live recover my wallet without the seed?
No. The 24-word recovery phrase is the only universal backup; Ledger® Live cannot recreate it.
What does 'Can't verify wallet' indicate?
Usually a signing or firmware mismatch; update software and confirm addresses on-device before proceeding.
Is Ledger® Live free?
Yes — the app is free to download. Network fees apply when you broadcast transactions.
